I hesitated to post this, but in the interest of showing failures and learning from them, I thought it was best....This started out as a routine implant case.  A periodontally failing #31, with a history of acute infection, previously treated with antibiotics, sucessfully.  A 50:50 chance of immediate placement.  The tooth came out with minimal fuss, all in one piece.  The remaining bone appeared greater than the CBCT said, and it looked good for an immediate; the plan was to prepare the mesial socket at the expense of the interradicular bone.  I place the first drill, a 2.2mm, and leaned into the distal wall as I drilled.
